Not to detract from the significance of their decision, in what way is Mono a choice that is more efficient than Python?
I can understand their reasoning may be to avoid vendor-lock, but the underlying structure of Mono is based on the same concept as C#/Java. Unless I'm missing something. If they were interested in introducing a hand held medical device at some point in the future they would be better off just designing the software to be independent from the start.
