Ive done LTSP at concord it worked well however
it has some problems with the networks in NYC Schools
this is because of the policies of DIIT (Department of Instructional
Information Technology). LTSP requires controle of the DNS server and
DHCP and bootp server. while these issues can be worked around by puting
the LTSP lab on a seperate firewalled switch it will be ripped out by
any project connect technition that walks into the building because they
can not control how the switch is configured. this is because they dont
understand how VLans work and think the switch can be used to gain
access to the administrative VLan. in addition they will not allow you
to modify the schools dhcp server or dns server nor will they modify it
for you, also because its there policy they will not let you setup your
own because they dont know how to administrate it. this having been said
there are ways email me off the list and i will give you my phone number
so we can dicuss how to do it.
