FROM Ruben Safir
SUBJECT Subject: [NYLXS - HANGOUT] The Dingo-OS manifesto

1) SystemD should be refered to as DingoOS. The Wikipedea entry says it
is named as a dameon in the unix tradition. As such, that is a propaganda
sucess on the part of these bastards, because its very scope is not Unix
and it is does not serve as a tradtional unix dameon. So that
intellectual space needs to be taken back from them.

1.a) Dingo-OS is not GNU/Linux and the two can not co-exist

2) SystemD breaks things. Show as many instances as possible.

3) They say Simplify, I say mount:

List the Result of the Mount Command whenever they use the word
"simplify" or say it makes anything simple

4) Systemd is a drop in replacement for sysVinit.

"Systemd, by design is a drop in replacement of the entire operating
system."

SystemD is NOT an init system. In the ***intimidate*** future, you will not
be able to run a system with SystemD and also run it with an ordinary Init
system of ANY KIND: See sytemd-shim.

5)Lennart Poettering's meshianic view of Dingo-OS:

"Our objectives: Turning Linux from a bag of bits into a competitive
General Purpose Operating System. Building the Internet's Next Generation
OS Unifying pointless dierences between distributions"

Translation:
DingoOS: A new world of a Uniform Linux with only one distribution.

6) Systemd is a "Kernel Wrapper" - say it until the first thing people
thing when you say systemD is Kernel Wrapper

7) Lennart hates the free software and the Linux community:

"The Internet is full of deranged people, no doubt, so one might just
discount all of this on the grounds that the Open Source community isn't
any different than any other community on the Internet or even offline.
But I don't think so. I am pretty sure there are certain things that
foster bad behaviour. On one hand there are certain communities where it
appears to be a lot more accepted to vent hate, communities that attract
a certain kind of people (Hey, Gentoo!) more than others do. (Yes, the
folks who post the stuff they do usually pretty clearly state from wich
community they come).

But more importantly, I'd actually put some blame on a certain circle of
folks that play a major role in kernel development, and first and
foremost Linus Torvalds himself."

8) Lennart thinks Open Source is Racist:

"The Linux community is dominated by western, white, straight, males in
their 30s and 40s these days. I perfectly fit in that pattern, and the
rubbish they pour over me is awful. I can only imagine that it is much
worse for members of minorities, or people from different cultural
backgrounds, in particular ones where losing face is a major issue."

Now I have to get back to my homework. I have two weeks of CompSci work
I have to catch up to and I need to memorize the instruction cycle.

Ruben
