[Social Hour Event (July 2019)][2]=0D
=0D
Hi all, =0D
On July 5th at 17:00 UTC we have our next Social Hour event. =0D
This time we are happy to have Claudio Santoro =0D
Claudio is a GNOME contributor in the engagement team who wants to share =
with us his experience in: =E2=80=9CGitHub Satellite 2019, how was the ev=
ent, the attendance and the talks.=E2=80=9D =0D

[My impression is that some entries in the GIR files are just wrong][3]=0D=

=0D
That is not completely uncommon unfortunately. Not all API have been ann=
otated since the introduction of GObject Introspetion, resulting in some =
errors where the defaults are incorrect. Quite often, this renders the AP=
I completely unusable and the fix is to simply add the missing annotation=
so that the API will become usable with the next update. =0D
I think that the GStrv functions are quite special though. As it is reall=
y just an array of strings (i.e. zero-terminated gchar**) it should be ha=
ndled in the same way as any other array by the binding. That is, it shou=
ld be translated to a native array type. As a result the g_str*v and g_st=
rv_ functions will not have any use for bindings and should likely be mar=
ked as (skip) so that they do not even appear in the introspection data.=0D=

[GDKColor as Treeviewcolumn attribute][4]=0D
=0D
HI =0D
I attempted to set cell-background via an attribute, as opposed to a prop=
erty =0D
As a property I need to setup a GDK::RGBA object eg: my $rgbaedit1=3DGtk3=
::Gdk::RGBA->new(0,0,0,0.1); =0D
and Then $cell->set (=E2=80=98cell-background-rgba=E2=80=99,$rgbaedit1) =0D=

However if I try an equivalent approach via attribute =0D
eg: lookup column in the model =E2=80=98Glib::String=E2=80=99 =0D
value in column $rgbaedit1 =0D
$col->add_attribute($renderer,=E2=80=98cell-background-rgba=E2=80=99,), I=
get unable to set GDKColor from gchararray error =0D
However if I change to =0D
value in column =E2=80=98rgba(0,0,0,0.1)=E2=80=99 =0D
and $col->add_attribute($renderer,=E2=80=98cell-background=E2=80=99,) it =
works (note the missing -rgba suffix to attribute name) =0D
Is this expected behaviour, or is there a different Glib type I should be=
using for the model=0D

Ol=C3=A1, pessoal! =0D
Al=C3=A9m disso, contribuo em outros projetos de tradu=C3=A7=C3=A3o de so=
ftware livre, notadamente alguns do translationproject.org e p=C3=A1ginas=
do www.gnu.org. =0D
E voc=C3=AAs? Deem uma palavrinha aqui! Todo mundo =C3=A9 muito bem-vindo=
aqui!=0D

[GHashTable using 64-bit ints][6]=0D
=0D
Thanks again. The format =E2=80=9C%ld=E2=80=9D is correct for 64-bit int=
on Linux (which I=E2=80=99m running), though admittedly it=E2=80=99s not=
portable. =0D
I think you=E2=80=99ve hit my problem with your comment on the keys. I to=
ok the glib doc to mean that giving a pointer to a 64-bit int was just a =
means of getting that int into the table as key, but if it=E2=80=99s real=
ly the pointer that=E2=80=99s stored then clearly my code is broken; I ne=
ed a distinct int object for each key (not just a distinct value for the =
same object). =0D
On the other hand, I believe my use of GINT_TO_POINTER to set the value =
(not the key), and =0D
GPOINTER_TO_INT to retrieve it, is correct; the value is a 32-bit int whi=
ch should make the round-trip successfully, according to the glib doc (an=
d in practice).=0D
