from what I heard last night by someone involved in the community & with
connections,
the nearby high school had rented their facilities to 2 outside groups
(schools?) for a basketball
game without informing the police or other entities.
that game was the trigger ( pardon the unintentional pun ) for the gang
shooting.
normally, the police would have had increased presence for the games to
head off the problem, but were blindsided.
