I think that I should take the blame for all the confusion here. I think I
was under a mistaken impression about what New Yorkers for Fair Use had as
a mission, and I was ignorant as to its structure. That caused some
serious confusion.
Please accept my apology.
You are still welcome to write an amicus, if you want to. But the one that
was being donated has been donated to another organization. That was based
on my apparent misunderstanding that Mr. Safir was actually in charge. And
when he stated that he didn't have time for this, I expressed respect for
that and we moved on to another organization that seems very interested in
moving forward.
I think there has been no great loss here. The consensus seems to be that
the donated amicus brief was unacceptable from your group's perspective,
and needed a complete re-write if it were to be submitted.
I guess though that "no great loss" does not take into account the fact
that I caused you all to waste time. I am sorry for that, and if in the
future something comes up where I can make it up to you, do not hesitate to
ask.
At this point however, I do not think further debate about either
submitting an amicus, nor its content, should be shared with me. and
probably not Attorney Coleman.
