Hello Isaac
Its good to hear that your have gotten a pilot off using GNU/Linux and
the Terminal Server Project. The chairman of the NYLXS education
committee, Robert Marino, had labs at Concord with about 30 GNU systems
which also dual booted. We also wrote a text book for students and a
training manual for GNU tools for teachers. And we looked closely for a
partner involving a study on critical thinking skills and the use of
Free Software as opposed to close system computing.
As you know, the problems in getting Free Software taught in schools are
multiple, and include hurdles such as vendor restrictions, curriculum
lock ups by the state regents and through them the publishing business,
the issues with the cities contract with Microsoft and Dell, and many
other issues.
We'd be interested in seeing the results of your pilot and would invite
you to present a paper on the results to NYLXS and an audience.
In addition, you might try to include proper credit for the FSF in their
software work by calling "linux" OS GNU/Linux. It would certainly make
Dr. Stallman happy.
