Protest and political action is an important part of the New York Linux Scene. Linux is a child of politics, and NYLXSers do their job under a variety of different LUG flags and umbrellas.
This summer, the the arrest of Russian programmer Dmitry Skylar for work he did developing a system which permits reading ebooks caused a national boycott against Adobe, and demonstatrations across the country organized by the Free Dmitry Organization.
This is NY's protests, which still are taking place every Monday in front of the NY Public Library on 5th Ave and 42nd street.
