First, lets start with equipment. If the guys can get together and pick up a few PCs here and there, that can be a start. I dont know if the will, because the business changed hands several times over the years, but there is a computer recycling center in NJ called Advanced Recovery ( http://www.advancedrecovery.com ). Under its original owner, Eric Berchel, he used to send equipment to my center as a donation as long as it went to their computer literacy and education. In turn, I sent him letters of thanks and a 501c3 tax receipt. We can ask, and see if they will donate. We'll need a car as the stuff has to be picked up. They are at: 50 Grafton Avenue Newark, NJ 07104 (973) 485-9100
Second, what the age group? Third, How many to be serviced, how many hours a day? We can start lesson plans from this. Best not to tie them up in a single room all day in front of a computer monitor. They'll burn out easily from this. Towards the end of the game, when all is done, its game time where they can unwind and relax at the end of the day. Educational games should be used here more often than video games. I would say 3 days of Educational games to 2 days of Video games; if running a 5 day a week program. Setting up competition would be great, like playing Civilization. What other great Linux games are there?
