Linux Administrator - full-time(Midtown)

Our direct client is looking for a Senior Linux Administrator to design,
build, support, maintain, and optimize Linux systems and applications to
support mission-critical business needs. The role involves working with
the team to act as an escalation point for all support issues and
mentoring of other technologists for strengthening the team's skill and
depth.

This role will be a significant contributor to the design,
implementation and support of our internal and our clients' systems
infrastructures. The candidate would be a leader for technology design,
working in close conjunction with internal and client IT and business
professionals.

***We would be interested in a 3-4 year Linux admin who is very smart,
dedicated, and interested in growing into a senior role***

LOCATION: Midtown Manhattan or Armonk, NY - employee's preference.
Ability to go to secondary location on occasion is preferred.

COMPENSATION: 100k to 150k base salary, 10% bonus

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide technical pre-sales insight and solution designs to aid in
creating the best client solutions and assist in the development of
proposals for new client projects requiring or benefiting from the use
of Linux systems.
- Effectively resolve a range of production support issues in
coordination with other systems engineers and technologists from other
disciplines to provide the highest level of client service.
- Provide strong working knowledge of vendor market, product families
and selection criteria- especially regarding systems virtualization and
shared storage technologies and vendors. Keep current on new
technologies and applications.
- Ideally have financial experience, possibly with knowledge of equity,
futures and FX markets, exchange rules, Bloomberg, Reuters and / or
direct feeds
- Work closely with project managers to keep them Informed of obstacles,
adjustments, and add-ons that may be outside a project's scope of work.
- Participate in on call rotation as system's escalation for our 24x7
Help Desk.
- Ensure tickets are closed on time and with high customer satisfaction
for all support and scheduled work.
- Have strong Information/Network Security awareness
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

TECHNICAL SKILLSET:
o RHEL, Apache, Shell Scripting, SAMBA, LDAP, MySQL, Solaris experience,
Perl, Python, or other scripting technologies.
o Shared storage and SAN expertise, including SAN design and
administration, including Nimble Storage, Dell Equallogic and EMC
storage. Thorough knowledge of networking as relates to Systems and
iSCSI SANs.
o Strong knowledge of VMware Virtualization and vCenter technology,
including a combination; of VMware vSphere and vCenter administration.
o Disaster Recovery design, implementation, testing and execution.
Strong experience with Data archiving, and backup solutions including
traditional backup to tape, backup to disk, and cloud-based backup/data
protection.
o Experience with all aspects of systems and data security/ windows
security, auditing.
o Advanced TCP/IP and DNS knowledge.
o Experience with Linux within a Windows environment and Winbind.
o Windows Server administration and implementation a strong plus.
