SUBJECT Re: [Hangout - NYLXS] [ Docs ] Israel's second wave
just a few points:

- talking/singing can also create the infectious droplets. A number of
clusters got started in choirs. And coughs/sneezes aren't entirely
predictable.

- covid is far more devastating than any flu if you are asymptomatic.
And it's not clear how safe the asymptomatic cases are. Looking back,
they noticed the number of cardiac arrest cases where 2-3x above normal
during the height of the epidemic and far more fatal and are now
strongly suspected to have been covid related. Plus "kawasaki-like"
syndrome that was supposedly only occurring in some children was
identified in at least one 20-something. They have yet to investigate if
this was happening in other adults.

- in symptomatic people, infectiousness starts at least 2 days before
symptoms. In the asymptomatic, they canbe walking around infectious for
1-2(+?) weeks. That's suspected to be how the epidemic got so out of hand.

it's a case of when, not if, the epidemic restarts in NY. All we can do
at this time to delay it is what has been repeatedly stated: masks,
distancing/dilution, cleaning. Failure to do those things is what got
the rest of the country & Israel in such trouble. (and yes, I've been
worried from the early on about the implications of both split-unit A/Cs
(poor fresh air flow) and allergy season )
