Aaron,
Sorry if I wasn't clear enough. I assumed everyone had a background on this which is why I posted to the mailing lists.
Basically, there was a meeting last night posted on both perlsemny and ny.pm mailing lists regarding a joint technical and social discussion. The agenda is below:
> Agenda: > > I. > Data Structures Serialization with Data::Serializer > Raffaello Galli > > Raffaello will present an overview of this class, practical > applications and use cases (expected and unexpected). > http://search.cpan.org/~neely/Data-Serializer-0.57/lib/Data/ > Serializer.pm > > II. > Perl Community in New York City > Jim Keenan > > With the closing of the NYPC User Group in the Ramada New Yorker, we > necessarily enter a new phase in the development of Perl user groups > in New York City. Essentially, we discussed the organization of future meetings and venues. There were lots of ideas abound, and the venue didn't seem appropriate to discuss it. Generally, consensus was to postpone it until this date, 12 July, sometime after work.
Personally, I feel that talk is cheap and action is invaluable. I think the agenda should perhaps contain some discussion on this topic, and that action should be taken to get the ball rolling and invite more people to create social and technical gatherings as they see fit. However, I feel also that the agenda should be mostly technical, and draw people in with what matters: working together to share knowledge that would be useful in problem solving with Perl.

Jordan M. Adler
