Everything I use works fine with Alsa, and without pulse, that includes e=
ven Firefox (Arch built one needed some tweaks before, but they are no lo=
nger required, apparently Arch is building Firefox with "--enable-alsa").=
As mentioned, I don't use pulse, and haven't ever done so... And I don=
't use apulse either (I haven't found the need).
However I don't think it matters much if something is supported by alsa o=
r not, if for example there are no volume controller applications around =
pipewire yet. The only ones I've read can help are pulse audio ones, mea=
ning one still needs the pipewire pulse plugin. One can get rid of it on=
ce there's a native pipewire audio volume controller. Well, I guess one =
can still use alsamixer to globally control volume, but then why using pi=
pewire on top (leaving wayland out of the picture)? To avoid pipewire-pu=
lse, that's what I think I need at least, since the rest is covered by al=
sa so far (though things tend to change).
