Are you sure that's copying file off of the MUSIC part of the hard drive? There's a music part (DRM-ed, encrypted) and a data-shuttle (normal filesystem) part. Maybe this trick is only the data-shuttle part?

I am using an iAudio U2 1GB flash device w/FM tuner. It's a USB mass storage device on any operating system. Drop songs into the /MUSIC directory. Viola'.
It does OGG mp3 and WMA, but some of my OGG files seem to crash it, so I use MP3.
