Subject: Tech in Govt Oversight Hearing Tomorrow - NYCHA Call Center

Evening Everyone, Tomorrow at 10:00am in the Hearing Room on the 14th floor of 250 Broadway, the Committee on Technology in Government, Chair, Council Member Gale A. Brewer and Public Housing, Chair, Council Member Rosie Mendez will hold a hearing on New York City Housing Authority's (NYCHA) plans to expand the coverage of their Centralized Call Center (CCC) to all five boroughs. The CCC provides residents with one location for the scheduling of routine maintenance repairs or emergency repairs by phone, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The hearing will focus on the ability of the CCC to handle the increased call volume and requests for service. The committees are also interested in understanding how the complaints are filed with the CCC and whether that data is being compiled to track 'problem buildings' and forecast issues. Last June the CCC was one of three NYCHA technology initiatives to receive honors at the Best of New York Awards, which recognizes the innovative use of technology and the improvement of services to citizens or government employees. Additionally, on May 6th, the prestigious Public Technology Institute honored NYCHA with a Significant Achievement Award for the Centralized Call Center Change Management Initiative in its Telecommunications and IT category.
Also, thank you to everyone who attended and participated in yesterday's Broadband Advisory Committee hearing. We were fortunate to have an excellent group of witnesses provide some really amazing testimony. We will load video and transcripts from the hearing on the Committee's website.

You must be a stupid engineer then, because politcs and technology have been attached at the hip since the 1st dynasty in Ancient Egypt. I guess you missed that one."
