Yes, it's definitely log base two. So if we have 4 elements the depth
was 3. That comes from log=E2=82=82(4)+1 =3D 2+1 =3D 3.

For 8 elements, it's log=E2=82=82(8)+1 =3D 3+1 =3D 4.

For 16 elements it's 5.

To be really precise, when the size of the list is not a power of two
you may need to round it up throw in a ceiling somewhere, like
ceiling(log=E2=82=82(N))+1.
