Betreff: [Hangout - NYLXS] Tree Table Hello Perl coders, I like coding outdoors, that gives me inspiration. Since the Spring I tried doing that by going to city parks. I use a lithium AC battery generator that gives me a full day of work, an LTE internet, and a sun shade to reduce screen glare. I found that working standing kept me much warmer on cooler days, so the simplest way was to put a camping table on top of a park picnic table, and to work standing. However, I didn't want to be limited by the presence of picnic table locations, so I carried another larger table with me. As I was doing that, I got the idea that if I could hang a table off a tree's trunk, then that would give me a "table leg" of any height that I need. It would be an elegant solution, which could mean that the table to carry would be something small (no long legs). I headed to Amazon to find such a product, but couldn't find one. However, I found a patent that's expired in 2001, titled "Tree Table." I thought that it would be fun to build the table in the patent. And so I did. My goal was to make something that's ad-hoc and light, that I can always have with me. Then, I could work anywhere, where there's a good tree. (Of course, the Tree Table doesn't damage the tree, it just mounts using snugly fit straps around the trunk.) People stopped to ask me about my setup, curious. It must be because of the pandemic. I didn't think there would be so much interest in an unusual thing like that. But, most people are now working from home, and don't have an office-home separation. So I decided to manufacture it and sell it. I put it up on IndieGoGo under the name of "Tree Table." Check it out. Thanks, Boris Reitman
