I hate to say this but there is no way you are going to get a modern versio=
n of OpenOffice to run on that there just isn't enough ram even if you max =
it out.
Abiword sure but not OpenOffice.
And I'm not even going to to=
uch the subject of running Gimp, or internet on that.

While linux ca=
n be very efficient those requirements are unrealistic on a machine approac=
hing 20 years of age.

The only thing I can say is either get a syste=
m built in the last decade or if you can find some one who has a copy of an=
older distro from when that system was still viable like say SuSE 7.x and =
you max out the ram you might have at least get a usable system with most o=
f what you want. But you will have compatibility issues wit some web sites =
and StarOffice (the original name for what is now OpenOffice) should be abl=
e to produce files readable by OpenOffice and passable MS Office97 compatib=
