this is the beginning of a questionnaire that i'd like to have ready for
the CUNY expo...
i need input.
I - Since you're running an Exchange Server:
A) Are you aware of how serious the virus threat to MS Exchange is?
- if so have you talked to your IT department about it?
- what was their response?
- if not, would you be interested to know specifics?
- would specifics include:
* examples of organizations that have been shut down by viruses targeted
at Exchange?
* summaries of logs showing how often viruses and malicious scripts try
to attack a "typical" server.
B) How much of Exchange/Outlook's capabilities do you actually use?
C) Do you use as a e-mail clients?
- MS Outlook
- MS Outlook Express
- Other e-mail clients like Eudora.
E) If you could replace your e-mail clients with similar products that
were impervious to Windows virus vulnerabilities, would you?
D) How much of your decision to use MS Windows on company desktops is
based on?
- Ease of use
- Employee familiarity
- Object embedding capabilities (eg: Excel Spreadsheets embedded in Word
documents)
- Compatibility with other organizations.
E) Do use run WindowsXP on your company desktops? Do you intend to? Are
you aware of the compatibility issues inherent therein?
F) Do you use MS Internet Information Server? If so would you be
interested in knowing what a piece of shit it is?
G) Do you use MS Sequel Server? If so would you be interested in seeing
how badly it performs vs. available open-source products.
H) Do you use NT Server for file and printer sharing?
Are you happy with it's performance?
Would you consider replacing it with a drop-in replacement that was
twice as fast and (literally) 100 times as stable?
I) Would you be interested in knowing what companies have replaced their
Microsoft-based products with GNU/Linux based solutions?
J) Did you know that companies as large as Boeing have developed open
source (read linux) based solutions for communicating with their
Exchange servers as them out?
K) Did you know that GNU/Linux offers desktop solutions that are more
flexible and easier to use than Windows?
L) Did you know that GNU/Linux offers several applications that can both
outperform Microsoft Office apps and offer the capability to read and
write Microsoft native file formats?
M) Did you know that Microsoft hides its security and virus
vulnerabilities from its customers? How do you think this might effect
your ability to protect your systems?
