The meeting at the Kilarney Rose went well. Homeless Phil is thinking of joining, but the dues fee is a problem for him. Homeless Mike already knew about Linux, believe it or not. He also can name every sports player who ever played professional baseball, football, basketball, hockey, and a couple of other sports. He can name the player, year started, rookie team, and current team/stats. He does a lot of reading at the library, and is interested in reading about GNU/Linux, free software, and related topics. Both of these guys have computer access at numerous libraries, and have lots of time on their hands. They're interested in working out a flyer handout for dues type of swap. They'll be at the Rose the next two Tuesday nights in case there is another meeting there.
Other than the discussion on handing out flyers for dues, we basically discussed professional sports players, the Tonkin Gulf Resolution, geo-political relations in East-Asia, and several related subjects.
I brought up the CUNY Demo, but they said they wanted some more background on Linux before committing to anything. So we broke up the meeting around 9:00.
Vincenzo.
