SUBJECT Re: [Hangout-NYLXS] Microsofts new stratergy to beat linux | | ...
well in short never trust Microsoft. Microsoft will do whatever they
feel is in their own best interest at the moment in regards to free
speach and open source software. right now they are playing nice and
even participating in opensource software development but that can
change at any time and has in the past. in the 80's- early 90's they
were friendly, mid 90's through 2010 they were not, and 2012 forward
they have been friendly again, but don't expect it to stay that way.

As far as this goes it is not a threat because it applies equally to
software they have developed and FS and OS software they offer support
for. Its just Microsoft way of offering the same protections Red Hat
and SuSE have offered their support customers for over a decade now.

that said are their threats? YES Plenty of them! as to if they will
succeed not likely as long as people, buisnesses and governments stay
vigilant.
