Right on both counts Ruben. I'll try the tail -f
I think the problem is that the signal from Starbucks is a bit erratic. It will go strong for a while, and then it will dip for a second. And I get the feeling that it's that one second dip that causes Linux wifi to drop it. Although, I'll admit I know very little about how wifi works.
I have a nasty feeling that I'm going to be forced to install a connection in my apartment. Something I really don't want to do.
