I haven't loaded gnome on a system in a long time because both KDE and GNOME IMO are a PIA, ass backward, windows pandering piece of garbage, and its getting worse.
The GTK toolkit is still superior, and I ran Umbunto with gnome for a week before ditching it. It seems that a lot of it has been ported to monobased systems at this point, which is one of the reasons I can't use evolution..it just ups and dies leaving a bunch of interprocess threading in its wake all the time.
