This course equips you with the knowledge to fill a wide range of
entry-level technology jobs as an IT Engineer. Based on new models and
curricula developed together with Per Scholas and NYC employers, the NYC
Tech Talent Pipeline’s Series A: IT program was designed for New Yorkers
with no previous tech experience.
A Snapshot
Hands-on instruction that thoroughly cover core competencies:
network, hardware, security, software, server, virtualization,
management, and mobile devices.

Monday-Thursday, 6:00pm – 9:00pm and Saturdays from 9:30am-5:30pm
Curriculum
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN
With Series A: IT, you’ll learn each new skill by practicing it yourself
because 75% of the coursework is hands on. Classes are small, so your
instructor can always help if you need it. By the time you finish,
you’ll be prepared for an entry-level job as an IT Engineer.
Schedule
Series A: IT will be held Monday through Thursday from 6:00PM to 9:00pm
and Saturdays from 9:30AM to 5:30PM for 20 weeks. The course includes
technical instruction and professional development curriculum. Review

You'll work hard. There's no doubt about it.
But if you’re like most students, you’ll look forward to each new day.
And you’ll marvel at all the changes you see in yourself. Prepare
yourself to spend your days in class and your evenings studying. Many
students have children and hold part-time jobs and, despite those

Buckle up
We'll be moving quickly. There’s a lot to pack in, and the standards are
set high. But we also structure your training experience so that you
have plenty of time to learn and practice each new skill.
Meet your new family
Your classmates will come from all walks of life and range in age from
18 to 65 (or older). It won’t take long before you see them as a second
family—a community dedicated to everyone’s success. Study groups form
somewhat naturally in and out of the classroom. Potluck dinners optional.

Modern Facilities
Our facilities always include modern classrooms; well-equipped training
labs; and places to relax, socialize and study.
Your own workstation
You will work from your own lab-based computer workstation for the
entire course. There, you’ll follow along in lectures and
demonstrations, practice new skills, review course materials and measure
how much you’ve learned.

Eligibility
To be eligible for this course, you must:
Be at least 18 years of age
Be a New York City resident
Have never been employed (full-time or part-time) as an IT Engineer
Currently earn less than $30,000 a year (or be unemployed)
Meet all federal selective service requirements (see www.sss.gov)
Be committed to pursuing a career in information technology
Be authorized to work in the United States
Because of its content, this course has additional entry requirements.
These include:
You have an interest in technology.
You have at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
You can read, write and speak in English.
You can pass a basic academic assessment test.
You can attend classes during the entire 20 weeks.
You are ready to make an important commitment to building your future.

Process
Joining us takes just 5 easy steps.
1. Online Application
Complete our online application.
2. Information Session
Choose a day to attend an on-site info session, where you can ask
questions, see our facilities and meet staff and students. At the
session, you’ll learn about all our courses, not just this one.
3. Entrance exam
If you decide that any Per Scholas course is right for you, you can take
our general entrance exam at your info session. Or you can return to
take it at a later time.
We use the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) as our entrance exam. To
be admitted to Per Scholas, you must pass this test at a 10th grade
level or higher.
Find out more about the test and view sample questions here and here. We
strongly encourage you study and practice in advance. If you don’t pass
the TABE on your first try, you may be invited to retest depending on
your score and other factors of your application.
4. Interviews
If you pass the TABE and meet other eligibility requirements, we’ll
schedule one or two interviews to determine your fit and any special
needs. During the interview, we’ll ask you about your education,
life/work experience and plans for the future.
5. Enrollment
If we agree that you’re ready for the course, we’ll let you know right
away and enroll you in the next class to start. If we decide not to
admit you for this course, but you meet other general requirements, then
we may offer you a spot in one of our other courses instead.

that you take the course seriously and work as hard as you can.
