Rubin 1) This is the only list I'm on where this is an issue. 2) The people you mentioned probably aren't making any kind of conscious decision about plain text or HTML its probably Gmail or their client app making that decision for them, based on weither they formatted the text or not. 3) No one elses email client has a problem with it and the only reason yours does is you purposely broke it. 4) all the standard mail archives handle this already its the custom scripts we use on hangout that have a problem with it. 5) The mail client on my cell phone only support writing emails with HTML bodies. I refuse to hack or replace it just because you broke your mail client.
I offered to help fix the scripts that handle the database archives.
