To Carolinedliny, Thank You for your input. As you said, they "perform same professional work...and continue to specialize..." I guess my question, more, or less (with my limited brains), is why is there a difference? And, you are correct, D.O.s do what M.D.s do the same thing. And vice versa. Chop, slice, dice. Different tribes, I suppose. Does not really matter. If one is in a hospital bed, one wants the best trained, learned, smart-ass person walking through the door. D.O., M.D., Witch Doctor, maybe.

At the end of her learning, the D.O.s and M.D.s go together to internship and residency. Meaning, of course, cutting into live humans. Well, presumably, live people. Or humans. Or something alive. She asked me if I would allow her to scalpel me. All I could think to say was, if you lick the peanut butter off the knife first. And the strawberry jam. Opinions about D.O. vs. M.D.?

To Carolinedliny, Thank You for your input. As you said, they "perform same professional work...and continue to specialize..." I guess my question, more, or less (with my limited brains), is why is there a difference? And, you are correct, D.O.s do what M.D.s do the same thing. And vice versa. Chop, slice, dice. Different tribes, I suppose. Does not really matter. If one is in a hospital bed, one wants the best trained, learned, smart-ass person walking through the door. D.O., M.D., Witch Doctor, maybe.
