My name is Paul RodrÃguez, from NYLXS (New York Linux Scene). We have installfests regularly arround the city, people are very helpful and it is a good place to get help.
We are also offering an Introduction to Linux class starting next month. You see we have this educational program where we offer affordable serious training to the community.
The class will consist of 5 classes in 5 weeks from Monday Febuary 4th until March 4th. The cost is $200 plus you can purchase a computer through our network of hardware vendors to participate in the class.
The class covers
Installation Introduction to the Shell Introduction to VI, vim, vi commands: Basic Shell comands Directory tree files, ownership, group permissions Setting up X sysinit - /etc/rc.d/init.d - turning services off and on network setup adding users - different on different systems ifconfig - see network connections modules - modprobe, demode, lsmod, kernel compile
