I am the Technology coordinator for Concord High School on Staten Island
we are a public alternative transfer high school. Concord was redesigned as a technology based school last year using the last generation of design plans for the Alternative Schools Superintendency. The basic plan is that every student has a laptop that they use for all of their classes ( this year we used Apple Ibooks running Mac OS X). The principal for Concord has given me full permission to install any OS on the computers and i have inputing planning all class curriculum. We are about to write an updated redesign plan for next year and I've been given the option to include a Linux system admin class if I can put together the curriculum and make arrangements to train the teacher for next school year. starting next year i would like concord to be an all Linux school however I could use some help with curriculum for the Linux classes and ideas for software to install that could be used in the other classes. so far on the software end I got an art teacher who has bee!
n teaching Photo Shop for the last 3 years to say " through out Photo Shop I want the GIMP" and a science teacher who is flipping out over all the great software like Kstars in the Linux Lab and is already starting to plan science lessons using Linux. any assistance would be appreciated.
