|SUBJECT ||Subject: [hangout] Technite Succussses Continues
I'm happy to say, that despite the fact that Richard decided to
sleep in at the house during the evening after his trip in from
Boston, that the NYLXS technite continues to be a huge success.
Thanks everyone who came yesterday, including Bruce Ingalls and
Rob, Mike et al. We had a chance to fix a few machines, get sound
running on an unfriendly laptop, and got ourselves kicked out at
A number of important things developed for NYLXS last night.
Mike, Rob and myself layed out a basic plan to run real world
testing of GNU/Systems and to measure educational end points, and
make them published in the months.
Also - WE GOT A TECHNICIAN FOR THE RADIO SHOW!!!!
So starting this coming Sunday Night, the NYLXS Radio
Show will start again at 8PM. We are taking topics now.
Thanks to the work of Selso, we are took in two new volumes for the
NYLXS Library from O'Reilly.
NYLXS is also gearing up for a few other new events. Richard Stallman has
agreed to sign our new GNU/Linux One certificates and other FSI class
programs. And the adaption for the GNU/Linux One class has been recieved
glowingly from members of the NYC Board of Education for teachers.
We wathced the Stallman movie from the NYLXS Dinner of last year, and we
had some Pizza and dinner.
All is good and Mike's administration is starting off with a strong start.
I hope that all our members help Mike make a smooth transition into this
un expected position. Mike was Member of NYLXS number 2, right after me, and
has been a great worker for us from the very beginning. He never has a bad word
to say about anyone and deserves our support.
Richard also has a few FSF things to sell, FSF Tee Shirts for $20 and the
book titled 'Free Software - Free Society', signed by him for $25 available
through us. I guess he's a traditional Jewish Peddler at heart :).
The NYLXS Journal was presented for review again, and Mike might be contacted
people for nominations to positions and activities.
Everyone have a great and busy week!
