I had reservations about sending that email, but I was trying to engage you in a conversation. Instead you chose to grandstand and resorted to name calling and continuing on a tirade about something I'm still not clear on. But that was the reason I had tried to engage you in a conversation. Out of the blue you decide to make a broadswipe at nylxs by calling it a leftist organization. I am offended because I am not a leftist and do not adhere to that sort of convention. At the same time, I am not on the board so if that is a prerequisite to qualify as a leftist in your broadswipe then I withdraw my complaint. Had you taken the time to explain why nylxs is leftist I would have liked to have heard your opinion. But after using my email as an excuse to resort to name calling and continuing on your tirade in a public domain I am no longer interested. I figured you would have acted more responsibly after having your picture appear in The Linux Journal. I'm glad I now know that you resort to knee-jerk reactions. It sounded like you were already hostile and you have made your decision a long time ago. Unfortunately for me you decided to use my post as an excuse to quit. However I can thank you for inspiring me to double my efforts. It is painfully clear to me that you dont fully understand the implications of the DMCA and how it is extremely detrimental to the advancement of American society. I respect nylxs because it doesnt cater to being lulled into a sense of complacency. Comfort has its place, that place is in the home. However when the home is being used as a method to gather information about the people who live in it that comfort turns into a mindless complacency and human intelligence ceases to advance.
Lastly, way to use the first amendment. Kind of how Jay Sulzberg grandstands and goes on brainless tirades. You have a longer history with nylxs than I do, you could have used that clout to sway me to believe why, in your opinion, nylxs is a leftist organization. But instead you resorted to name calling, you dropped the ball. That probably explains why nylxs had dropped the ball with DRM and DMCA. Because of people like you, who buckle under pressure and decide to become complacent as a result. If I jeapordize what standing I have with nylxs by expressing my opinion so be it. If I'm wrong then none of this matters. I have learned the extent of the damage done to our Constitution by the DMCA and companies like ibm, microsoft and the recording industries. I know what I have to do if I fall out of favor, too bad you arent capable of doing the same.
I become quickly irritated by people like you who make broad generalizations and are incapable of backing up those claims.
FWIW.
Without further grandstanding, Steve M
PS. I challenge you to find leftist leanings in this post.
PPS. Mandrake 9.1 for PPC is a POS.
PPPS. So does this mean you wont be at the Monday night general membership meeting? --Apple-Mail-2--922573961 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Type: text/enriched; charset=US-ASCII
