OK, lets start with the basics and preliminaries:
1) What kind of program are we starting?
2a) Where is it going to be housed?
2b) Is it a stand alone program or is it piggy backing somebody else's cent= er? Is the NYC DOE Schools involved?
2c) Are we going to need a license for it? If we are dealing with children we might have too. If we are dealing with adults only then we don't have too in the beginning. Teens are a iffy ground depending on their age.
2d) Will we require fingerprinting and background checks? Again, if we are dealing with children we might have too. If we are dealing with adults only then we don't have too in the beginning. Teens are a iffy ground depending on their age.
3a) What materials do we need to bring in? vs. What materials are already b= eing supplied?
3b) What in terms of money are we going to require to start?
4) What group of people are we dealing with: rich, poor, ethnic minorities,= educationally handicapped, etc.?
5) What boro will it be in? Not that it matters, we just have to compensate= for travel time.
All this has to be done first before one can apply for grants, stating that= we have the program going and people willing to attend, we need the city/o= rganization's funding help to get it going. At least you/we can say that th= rough we have NYXLS and we helped out community centers in the past. We jus= t need to let it continue with the upkeep and progress of those we helped. = In that NYXLS can get funding for continued work.
