It's tough when you're Jesse Smith, serial prankster, but you're writing for a weekly periodical like DistroWatch Weekly. In a given year, you have only one chance in seven that an issue will emerge exactly on April 1st.
In the other six years, you might have to publish your April Fools Day hoax story in the, say, March 30th issue. (But, to be kind, you'd throw in dead giveaways like attributing all of your claimed facts to a recently faked GitHub account with a single checkin by one 'Ivan Gotyaovich', using hastily invented fake project name 'systemdaemon'.)
By the way, why is this seder different from all other seders? http://boingboing.net/2015/03/29/rube-goldbergs-passover-sede.html
